FAQ
Do you have any further questions, please send us a message and we will take care of it.
What does the new separate collection obligation mean for municipalities?
Since 1 January 2025, the separate collection of textiles has been mandatory for public waste management authorities in accordance with Section 20 (2) sentence 1 number 6 of the Circular Economy Act (KrWG). What does this mean for you in concrete terms?
- Mandatory infrastructure: Municipalities are required by law to provide comprehensive systems for the collection of used textiles. The aim is to drastically reduce the proportion of textiles in residual waste and to maximise material recovery and recycling.
- High quality requirements: The mere collection is not enough. The law requires high-quality recovery that complies with the principles of the waste hierarchy (prevention, preparation for reuse, recycling).
- Documentation obligation: Municipalities must prove that the collected quantities are properly recycled.
Can we collect independently and only sell the goods to faircollect?
Yes, we support municipalities and waste management companies that carry out the collection on their own. faircollect acts as a reliable buyer of your collection quantities. We guarantee you the purchase at market conditions as well as a fast payment term to strengthen your planning security and liquidity. In this way, you can combine your municipal sovereignty in collection with our expertise in professional, resource-saving recycling.
How does faircollect support municipalities in the implementation of the Circular Economy Act (KrWG)?
According to § 20 KrWG, public waste management authorities are obliged to collect textiles separately. faircollect offers legally compliant full-service solutions for this. We guarantee complete documentation of material flows and ensure that the collected quantities are treated according to the waste hierarchy, with priority on reuse before material recycling. In this way, you not only meet legal quotas, but also ensure the highest level of transparency for your sustainability balance.
Is the cooperation with faircollect compliant with public procurement law?
Absolutely. We have many years of experience in participating in public tenders and service concessions. We provide the necessary certification as a specialist waste management company and guarantee fair, market-standard conditions.
How does faircollect prevent littering and overcrowding at the container locations?
A clean cityscape is the calling card of a municipality. faircollect relies on proactive logistics management. Through optimized route planning, we empty the waste collection containers as needed before overfilling occurs. In addition, we guarantee a quick response in the event of reported contamination or provisions.
What economic advantage does a district have through the cooperation?
By outsourcing the textile collection to a specialized professional such as faircollect, the municipality does not have to pay high investment costs in its own infrastructure and vehicle fleet.
What are suitable places to set up collection containers?
Highly frequented places such as recycling centres, DSD sites directly next to waste glass and waste paper containers (bundling of disposal routes) are suitable for efficient collection. Public parking and facilities are also ideal.
